West Coast launches Festive Season JOC
Press Statement – The West Coast District Festive Season Joint Operations Centre (JOC) was launched in Moorreesburg.
According to a press statement the JOC will be a nodal point for collaboration between law enforcement agencies for swift response to incidences.
Various safety and security operations will be managed from West Coast District Municipality’s Disaster Management Centre in Moorreesburg with the objective of creating safer environments for communities during the holiday season.
In his address at the launch SAPS District Commander of the West Coast Cluster, Major General Sizakhele Dyantyi, gave his commitment that all SAPS resources in the district are deployed effectively in order to serve and protect communities.
“We need to collaborate and work together in order to fight crime. From SAPS side we do not want to work in silos, because community safety is everybody’s business,” Dyantyi said.
The SAPS, local municipalities, Western Cape Government, NSRI, Emergency Medical Services, Members of West Coast Rural Safety Forum, Neighbourhood Watch agencies and the community safety forums partnered with West Coast District Municipality to launch their Festive Season plans.
Spokesperson for West Coast District Municipality, Heinrich Robertson, underlined the importance of collaboration to create safe spaces for communities. “Our municipality places a high priority on community safety and social cohesion. Our Community Safety Strategy has a strong focus on partnerships with key stakeholders and our Disaster Management Centre in Moorreesburg, plays a key role in coordinating various safety interventions in the district,” Robertson said.
