Georgian Ambassador visits Swartland

The new Georgian Ambassador to South Africa, Roland Beridze, visited Riebeek Kasteel this week. He was accompanied by minister-counsellor at the Embassy, Ilia Imnadze, and the Chairperson of the Southern African Georgia Chamber of Commerce (SAGCC), Marius Heyns.

dié courant caught up with them at Kloovenburg’s Eight Feet Village where Georgian winemaker Temo Ninoshvili joined the visitors. Ninoshvili is participating in Kloovenburg’s 2024 harvest season as part of a winemaker exchange program between South Africa and Georgia.

Since the inception of the program in 2014, 29 South African winemakers have participated in the annual Georgian harvest and 19 Georgian winemakers have visited South Africa.

The Georgian harvest season runs from September till mid-November. The visit was a follow-up to the Georgian Day which was hosted by the former Georgian Ambassador, Beka Dvali, in Riebeek Kasteel last year. – (Press Release)
